If I needed to use one of my medium multi role ships for combat for some reason, I'd definitely use the MKII over the python as it's more nimble, better cockpit view, etc. I never fly the Python because I have a T7 (and a Cutter) for Cargo, for exploration, the MKII is better, and seeing how the Python is the only ship I own that I've struggled with NPC's, I never use it for combat my low cost / low rebuy ships for combat are the Challenger and Vulture.

My Python is A rated and total value is 300 million. All 3 ships total less than my python but will outperform it in any category. My T7 can outhaul a python, it's value is 39 million, and I have a challenger that is fitted for PVE combat, fully engineered and A rated worth 110 million. No weapons since it's an exploration build, but it does have an SLF. For perspective, my Krait MKII is engineered and A rated(except sensors, life support and distributor). Personally, I never fly ships stock, and make sure I have enough to A rate thrusters, FSD, and Shields with at least some engineering. I would check to see if I had the mats already to engineer FSD.
